A fraction represents a number of parts of the whole. To teach unlike fractions first teach equivalent fractions.
Decimals
You can relate decimals with fractions & percentage because 0.5 means or 50%.
Integers
Using real-world examples is another great way to keep math interesting.

(+4) ´ (-2) = (-8)
(+3) ´ (-2) = (-6) = (-8) – (-2)
(+2) ´ (-2) = (-4) = (-6) – (-2)
(+1) ´ (-2) = (-2) = (-4) – (-2)
(0) ´ (-2) = (0) = (-2) – (-2)
(-1) ´ (-2) = (2) = (0) – (-2)
(-2) ´ (-2) = (4) = (2) – (-2)
(-3) ´ (-2) = (6) = (4) – (-2)
